Implications of Facebook Fake Identity on Offline Relationship amongst Users in PortHarcourt City-Nigeria

Abstract
This study was aimed at finding out in what ways fake identity on Facebook affect real life relationships among users in Port Harcourt city, Nigeria. It was survey research which adopted the questionnaire as data collection instrument. A sample size of 384 respondents was drawn from a population of over 2 million using Taro Yamane’s statistical formulae. The study revealed that, Facebook users in Port Harcourt are aware of the presence of fake identities online and have been victims of fake identities in many ways. Consequently, fake identities on Facebook have had negative implications in their real-life relationships.
