DOCTRINAL AND THEOLOGICAL DIALOGUE BETWEEN CHRISTIANITY ANDAFRICAN TRADITIONAL RELIGION
Religious dialogue is very paramount in this contemporary period primarily due to some negative implications associated with the abuse of the practice of religion. The thrust of this work centres on religious dialogue between Christianity and African traditional religion especially in some of their theological and doctrinal issues such as the doctrines of God, sacrifice, priesthood, among several others. This work is purely a qualitative one which used the documentary research method, where data were collected from written sources as books, journal articles and online sources. The work discovered that there are similarities between some doctrine and theological issues between African traditional religion and Christianity, therefore, meaningful and enduring dialogue can exist between the two religions, and that the only major difference between the two religions is their corresponding cultures and hence the need for an appropriate method that will align itself to the principles of relativity and methodological neutralism or objectivism. Essentially, the work showed that meaningful dialogue can exist not only between African traditional religion and Christianity but in other world religions.
